The Power of Not Being a Pussy

I'm starting to feel like my old self again, in the best ways. There are some things I'm happy to leave behind, but there are other things that I loath to lose. The truth is, I didn't even totally realize that I was losing anything.
I tricked myself into thinking it was okay to get fat and lazy. As the number on the weight scale continued to rise so did my apathy. There was, of course, a voice deep inside that was begging and pleading with me to get out of the slump that I had found myself in - but the noise was easily drowned out by the sound effects of the video games that I continuously found myself lost in.
Even so, there were certain events that occurred that brought the resounding plea of that voice back to the forefront of my mind. These moments of embarrassment usually took place during the times that should have been the most exciting - at the lake, at the gym, in the bedroom.
A lot of you won't understand this, but there is a certain feeling you get inside of yourself when you realize that you are no longer the man that your woman married. It's fucking painful.
Then you have a choice: you either continue on down that path self-hatred, drowning your sorrows in booze and burgers; or you stop being a fucking pussy and take back what was once yours.
About two years ago, I stopped caring. I didn't intend for that to happen, though. It just started out as a small break. That break grew into more than I had ever thought that it would.

Now, I'm starting to feel like my old self again, in the best ways. The number on the scale is going down while my zeal for life does the opposite. My purpose is becoming clearer while I and my family grow happier.
I know that losing weight doesn't remove all of life's problems, but it sure as hell makes them easier to handle.
Until next time,
JP
