Always Forward

You know what drives me crazier than just about anything else? It's when other people think that I should change my life because it doesn't line up with their view of how things should be.
That shit drives me insane.
I have never been the type of person to force my opinions on others - partially because what others do is not a whole lot of my business - and also because I don't give a fuck.
And yes I know that I'm going against that by shitting on people who do this because I am in effect caring about what others do. Every day I'm getting less and less attached to caring about what other people think of me, but it has proven a bit more difficult to let go of them actually telling me to stop or to change.
The answer is no. Fuck no.
I'm not going to stop doing what I want to do simply because it doesn't fit into your worldview. I enjoy being the wild card that makes people rethink their foundations. I enjoy shaking people up. Why? Because I'm fucking tired of people settling into a perpetually sedentary state and just basically giving up on life. I'm tired of people who are content. I think it's great to be happy with your life, but I think it's stupid to stop pushing forward.
Thomas Edison said this: “Restlessness is discontent — and discontent is the first necessity of progress. Show me a thoroughly satisfied man — and I will show you a failure.”
Satisfaction is a sign that you have stopped moving forward. You need to be comfortable with discomfort because while it may be nice for a while to stop pushing you will quickly find, as I have, that once you stop moving forward you will eventually start moving backward. If life is a mountain then stopping in your ascent means that you will eventually begin sliding down.
I'm not going to fucking do that.
So when people tell me that I need to change I'm just going to laugh as I leave them behind on the slope.
